About the Artworks

The Biblioflora Series of Photographs are constructed images wherein the artist constructs or forms the subject of her photographs.

The subject is the book – an object so familiar and well loved by all. By curling and folding the pages of a book and placing it on a reflective surface, she captures the object and its reflection. The resulting images often evoke forms from nature: flowers, shells and seeds.

These limited edition, fine art photographs are  ‘reality-based illusions’, as part of what you see is a reflection and doesn’t physically exist. The photographic artworks are printed in a large size, creating a sense of hyper reality as the viewer examines the books in a scale that is unreal. Her aim is to create a sense of surprise and visual intrigue in the viewer and create a perceptual gap between what we know the object is and what it has become.

The Biblioflora Series of Photographs can be presented on archival paper, archival canvas or as metal prints on aluminum sheet.
